GARDENING AND LANSCAPING


LESSON TITLES:

  • Plant Growing Process 
  • Native, Non Native, and Invasive Plants 
  • USDA Plant Hardiness Zones
  • Different Plants Different Care

COVERED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Basics of the plant growing process and the time it takes 
  • Plants native to the area vs. non native plants (i.e. Wild Taro, English Ivy)
  • Overview of the USDA Plant Hardiness Zones and what each zone can grow 
  • The difference between plants and the type of care they need (i.e. partial vs full sunlight)

PRACTICED SKILLS:

  • Identifying the stages of plant growth 
  • Identify the difference between a native and non native plant and why some are considered invasive 
  • Read the USDA Hardiness Map and Identify the different zones and the plants that grow there
  • Identify properties of invasive plant species

FINAL PROJECT:

Plan a garden layout, and then plant it with a USDA Hardiness Zone in mind
